Was ist das ileum?
Das Ileum (Krummdarm) ist der letzte Abschnitt des Dünndarms nach dem Jejunum (Leerdarm). Mit einer Länge von etwa drei Metern macht er drei Fünftel des gesamten Dünndarms aus. Im Ileum finden – wie im übrigen Dünndarm – Verdauungsvorgänge statt und zudem die Resorption von Wasser und Gallensäuren.
Warum Leerdarm?
Das Jejunum (Leerdarm) ist ein muskuläres Hohlorgan und ein Abschnitt des Dünndarms. Hauptaufgabe ist die Aufspaltung und Resorption verschiedener Nahrungsbestandteile sowie der Transport und die Speicherung des Chymus. Letzterer wird im Jejunum durch Wasserrückresorption eingedickt.
Was kommt nach dem Leerdarm?
Zu seinen Abschnitten gehört der Zwölffingerdarm (Duodenum), der Leerdarm (Jejunum) und zuletzt der Krummdarm (Ileum). Das Ende des Ileums liegt im rechten Unterbauch, wo der Dünndarm in den Dickdarm mündet.
