Was ist mit Toshiba passiert?
Toshiba Memory firmiert seit dem 1. März 2019 unter dem Namen Kioxia. Ebenfalls Anfang Juni 2018 wurde bekannt, dass Toshiba seine PC- und Notebook-Sparte Toshiba Client Solutions zu 80,1 \% an das Foxconn-Tochterunternehmen Sharp verkauft.
Wie heißt Toshiba jetzt?
Nachdem der ins Straucheln geratene Konzern vergangenes Jahr die Notebook-Sparte an die Foxconn-Tochter Sharp verkauft hat, wird nun der Name Toshiba von den Produkten verschwinden. Seit Jahresbeginn heißt die ehemalige Toshiba Client Solutions Europe GmbH (TCSE) bereits Dynabook Europe GmbH.
Was ist Dynabook System?
Das Dynabook war ein konzeptionelles Computer-System, das in den frühen 70er Jahren von Alan Kay am Xerox PARC entwickelt wurde. Es sollte die Zusammenführung von intuitiver Benutzbarkeit und Programmierung mit einer hochwertigen grafischen Ausgabe und einer leistungsfähigen, aber preiswerten Hardware sein.

But enough fun, because Dynabook is a serious name change. It stems from the fact that Sharp bought 80.1\% of Toshiba Client Solutions (essentially Toshiba’s laptop business) in October last year. With Toshiba no longer the primary owner, it made sense to change the company name.

Simply that the Toshiba brand will fade from usage, with new laptops being released under the Dynabook brand, much like IBM became Lenovo. Indeed, PC World has already started selling Dynabooks. Confusingly, though, they’re called Toshiba Dynabooks.
